Update on Salmonella enteritidis outbreak.
Most recently, there have been three Salmonella cases in Oklahoma but none are linked or associated with the present National outbreak. These are associated with the occasional expected cases that occur each year in the population.
The eggs have been packed under the following brand names:
- Farm Fresh
- James Farms
- Mountain Dairy
- Pacific Coast
Therefore, facts indicate that Oklahoma is not linked, at least as of 8-23-10, to the present national Salmonella enteritidis outbreak from eggs of Wright County egg in Galt, Iowa.
The Julian dates of the contaminated eggs range from 136 to 229 and the plant numbers are 1720 and 1942.
However, always cooks your eggs sufficiently to protect yourself from Salmonella regardless of whether there is or is not an outbreak. More information is available at the Oklahoma Health Department website at:
If you suspect Salmonella please collect a stool culture. View test collection information.
