Ebola Response

RML is committed to supporting the community. Our dedicated pathologists, medical technologists and multiple other associates have been involved in helping establish a protocol in response to suspected Ebola infection for some of the Tulsa community hospitals. Part of this protocol is making sure that high and low-risk Ebola patient specimens are only collected, handled, and tested in a very specific manner. Do NOT collect specimens in your office. Direct the patient to a hospital emergency room. In addition, preparing office staff with a guided plan on how to distinguish between a suspected Ebola patient versus a patient that is experiencing the symptoms of various other colds and viruses is important to be able to quickly identify potential risks. The CDC has provided guidelines for evaluating the risk factors and placing patients into categories. These can be found at: http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/exposure/risk-factors-when-evaluating-person-for-exposure.html
